Cuticle remover cream contains which of the following ingredients?

a) bleach

b) salicylic acid

c) formaldehyde

d) potassium hydroxide.

Answer:- d) potassium hydroxide.

Ingredients of the cuticle removal lotion in general may contain potassium hydroxide. Another function of potassium hydroxide is to help in softening the cuticles which are the thin layers in dead skin surrounding the finger or toe area. Through its action on the dead and brittle skin cells, potassium hydroxide, being added to the cuticle, loosens the connection between those skin cells and makes the removal of the excessive cuticle tissue easier.

This ingredient became the leading figure in cuticle removers as it has great softening effect without touching the skin structure or nails around. But citric acid and other substances such as salicylic acid or formaldehyde can not be found in nail cuticle cream as they may cause allergies, discolor the nail or the surrounding skin.
