This saves calcium in the body. So, inhibiting the action of osteoclasts and reducing calcium loss within urine can assist in bringing high blood levels of calcium back down. Children respond better to lowering their calcium with calcitonin than adults. This is the case because children\u2019s bones still grow very fast and therefore calcitonin more readily has an inhibitory impact on osteoclasts that are working vigorously to break down bone tissue. Calcitonin aids in reduction of blood calcium levels by repressing osteoclastic activity and minimizing the amount of calcium lost through excretion.
