RNA, ribonucleic acid, for its part, is made of a single polynucleotide chain consisting of adenine, guanine, cytosine, and uracil nitrogenous bases rather than thymine. Uracil is very similar in structure to thymine but has one fewer methyl group than thymine. The difference in the nitrogenous bases makes the two genetic materials different despite belonging to the same family; DNA and RNA.
