These cells or elements are called neurons and are said to be the building blocks of the nervous system since it transmits electric impulses. They have structures which are used mainly for the reception and transmission of information. The receiving part of a neuron where messages are sent to from other cells is referred to as the dendrites.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The dendrites are the tree like branchy extension or projection that come out of the main body of the neuron.
