Question:-

Explain your response, drawing upon both the Eastern and African ethical models.

Answer:-

I believe that globalisation and the associated cultural exchange is important for overall growth human community. Although some cultures are endangered due to the influence of other cultures, I think it is necessary to exchange ideas and resources to ensure the well-being of the civil society, while the issues due to cultural influence on each other can be solved through discussion.

The concept of African ethics can be considered in this case. African ethics emphasizes the connectedness among all elements in society. The ideas of Ezra align with the concept of connectedness. Aminata considered that the connectedness is causing pain in some parts of the world. The communities grow in collaboration with each other. So separating one community from rest of the world makes the survival more challenging and it does not alleviate the pain.

The eastern ethics such as Hinduism provides a solution to promote connectedness across the world and reduce the pain. From the perspective of Hinduism, every individual in the society should focus on reducing harm to other members. The concept of Karma in Hinduism emphasizes on reducing harm to others even to the animals to reduce the overall karmic footprint and associated pain. The Hindu values can be applied in the case of globalisation also. In this case, the communities can mix each other, share resources and ideas without harming anyone. Therefore, the suffering in the world can be mitigated. The Hindu gurus such as Amma focused on encouraging people to follow the values and belief as per their faith of origin. It also reduces the risk of endangering any other community if the individual focus on their state of origin despite the external influences. The concept of sustainable globalisation is reflected in the Hindu proverb Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam which means that the entire world is one family (Rathod,2016). As per the proverb, global communities can be connected while loving and caring for each other.
