Operations Product Flow
Question :
What is BYD’s current product flow process?
What are the strengths and limitations of this product flow process?
Answer :
It was founded in 1995. It has implemented SAP enterprise resource planning software with the SAP extended warehouse management software to build effective as well as a stable platform in order to manage and control production that is process-oriented.
The product flow of the organization is monitored in real-time. SAP extended warehouse management synchronizes the warehouse data as well as work in process data. It helps the organization to reduce inventory along with improving the turnover of inventory (Nazarov & Broner, 2017). The software also ensures that the organization is following the designed process flow.
The integration of these to the application has helped the organization to improve its capacity and reduce production time as well as supply chain cost. The organization has also built and integrated links between various units of the business. It has improved operational efficiency and business processes.
• Increase production
• Reduced chances of error
• Reduced the cost of production
• Improved operational efficiency
• Improved business process
The following are the limitations of the product flow.
• Production is not in accordance with designed process flow
• Less control over the process
• The process may lead to a delay in the production
