*Explain the negative impact to the organisation from these crimes.
*Propose protective measures at all levels (administrative, policy, physical, technical, human, etc.) that your organisation can take to counter these threats.
Answer :
Protective measures to counter cybersecurity threats
As it has been identified and discussed that cybersecurity threats can significantly affect the organization, its performance, and productivity. Hence, it is necessary to develop some protective measures at all levels within the organization so that the identified cybersecurity threats can be counter effectively and efficiently and protect the organization from the impact of cybersecurity threats. The following measures should be taken by the organization for the same.
The management of the organization should develop a security policy to ensure the security of the systems and motivate every member of the organization to follow the guidelines developed by the organization (Thompson, 2017). The security policy should cover every aspect of the business that could be vulnerable and used for cybercrime and ensure that every aspect of the business is secure and safe.
Action should be taken at the administrative level as well in order to secure the systems of the organization from threats. The system and software should be up to date. The outdated system and software should be replaced with new and up to date systems and software. Two-factor authentication should be used to grant access to the system.
It is also necessary to educate employees of the organization about the cybersecurity threats so that they can identify the vulnerability and inform the concerned team to take appropriate actions to protect the system from the attack (Lykou et al., 2018). The employee should also be trained enough to take necessary action to protect the system from the threat.
There should be back up of the confidential as well as important data so that the organization can retrieve such data if it lost. Remote servers should be used by the organization from where the organization can easily back up confidential and important data. It is also important to ensure that office premises are safe and secure. The office building should be away from the main road. The number of windows and doors should be limited. Entry and exit should be managed and monitored with the help of CCTV (Chua et al., 2020). There should also be a guard at entry and exit point who can detect an attacker.
