Question :

Identify three socioeconomic factors that influence the health of the family.

Answer :

Education is one of the key socio-economic factors that has significant impact on Gaborra family. They do not speak English fluently that prevents them to obtain high-quality health knowledge. Due to poverty and a lack of financial resources they cannot buy healthy food and medicine (Ozdemir et al., 2020). They are also moving from one place to another place which also affects their health. Olga is suffering from Olga Anemia but she is not encouraged to seek treatment for her anemia. Thus, the following interventions should be provided to them in order to encourage to seek treatment for her anemia. Preserving her strengths to work, to be able to be a better wife and mother, as well as to have more energy to get high-paying job are the key interventions that can encourage her to seek treatment for her anemia.

They should be encouraged to learn English by emphasizing the importance of English. They can also support their children in school work if they learn English. Learning English will also help them to get a high-paying job and make them stable. The following are the health teaching goals of the Gaborra family. To get a stable healthcare service provider, to understand the value as well as the importance of conventional medicine, and to get financial help or relaxation from healthcare. Three interventions that Olga must learn regarding fluid balancing for the infant are the following. She must keep her child protected from the exposure of heat because it will lead to dehydration. She should use sanitary water for her child when her child is sick. She must replenish her child’s fluids as well as electrolytes when her child is sick.

The following are the three preventives maintenance-teaching activities that respect the Gaborra’s family belief in the hot and cold theory of disease management. There is a need to ensure that the child has an appropriate fluid balance. The child should be protected from overexposure to hot and cold. There is a need for sanitary water both hot and cold. The following strategies could be applied to obtain health data for the Gaborra family; the interview should be conducted with the Gaborra family with the help of a translator (Ngigi & Busolo, 2018). The interview should be conducted with the healthcare service provider. An interview should be conducted with Robert's teacher regarding hygiene

The following are the major health problem of Mexican Americans. Poverty is the leading health problem. Apart from this poor living condition and the significant gap in health knowledge as well as a lack of access to preventative healthcare service are the major problem of Mexican Americans. If Olga was to seek a folk practitioner, she would seek an older relative. If an older relative is not in her family, she would seek another trusted family. The family of Gaborra lives together in a very terrible condition. They always work as well as function as a unit that is a positive sign for her family because it shows unity, trust, and respect among the family member in the Gaborra family. However, it can also be noticed that Olga is less motivated towards learning English. If she improves her English by learning it, she can also improve her employability.

Two interventions to encourage Mexican American clients are the following. Providing on-site healthcare services to Mexican Americans would encourage them with tuberculosis to keep clinic appointments as well as to comply with the prescribed medication regimen. They work long hours and do not have proper transportation facility. Hence, providing free-food at the clinic would also motivate them for the same. The majority of Mexican-American have settled in the United States of America at border areas. Apart from this, some are also settled in the Southwest and West where low-skilled work is required.

The attitude of Mrs. Medina towards her adolescent daughter can be termed as relatively paternalistic. Mrs. Medina is trying is to prevent her daughter to get a job or work outside the home because she wants her to be more tied with the home. She is also unaware that her daughter is pregnant and planning to leave home without informing them after dropping out of school. There is no communication or poor communication between Medina and her daughter. She should be encouraged to look after herself as she is expecting a child and it is her responsibility to take care of herself as well as her unborn child during the pregnancy (Stucki et al., 2018). She should be informed or made aware of the importance of prenatal care for her health and the health of her child.

There are several barriers to access healthcare for the Medina family. The first and foremost barrier is the poor behavior of Medina towards her family and healthcare. Apart from this, there is also a lack of concern for unhealthy behavior among adults in the family. It seems that the entire family in demotivated towards seeking healthcare services. There are several high-risk behaviors exhibited by the family. Smoking and drinking are critical and highly risky behavior exhibited by the family. It has also been found that family members are involved in unprotected physical relation that has a significant impact on health. They are also demotivated to seek medical help even after health issues are identified. There is a significant communication barrier in the family that has a significant impact on care delivery. There is poor communication between mother and daughter or even it can be said that there is no communication between Medina and her daughter due to the paternalistic behavior of Medina (Sethi & Rani, 2017).

If the Medina family chose to visit a folk healer, they should choose a community folk healer. Community folk healer would help them to establish a healthy relationship among family members because a healthy relationship among family members is the first step towards better health condition. Community folk healers would also be close to them and hence they can approach whenever they will be in need. If Mrs. Medina’s parents visit a healthcare provider, they would expect that the healthcare provider would provide them necessary healthcare services with respect and dignity. The family of Medina should be educated about what to expect as it helps in compliance with western health prescription. It is also important to develop a lasting relationship with prescribers. They should also be made aware of the importance of good health for the betterment of their family.

Familism and respeto are important for Medina's family because they will ensure that all family members share a good relationship and they treat each other in a better way. These terms say that family is paramount in the life of people. Rosa should be made aware of the health belief and how she could ensure good health. The importance of protected physical relationship should be emphasized so that she can be aware of the way of avoiding pregnancy. Jose should seek care from a care provider in order to ensure good health (Espinosa-Hernández et al., 2017). Jose should also be made aware of the different interventions that could be used to avoid illness such as avoiding drinking and smoking.
